June 25 - Last day of Drama class

June 25 - last day of Drama class

1.  Zoom class meeting details:

meeting id: 756 3626 9932
password: 4c8F4v

2.  Drama games

(1) Improv scene:  Rachel (School Principal), Ely (rebellious student).  The scene is that the student was sent to the Principal's office because she is out of school uniform.

(2) Giving Presents This game is all about receiving surprises and about the things we value most.
      purpose:  Mime and movement, improvisation

Afast-moving game in which ideas are generated very quickly. Students mime giving and receiving presents. The person giving the present must not decide what it is. The recipient should mime opening the present and only then say what it is. Don’t pre-plan, just decide on the spur of the moment. Whatever it is, be really delighted and grateful – it is just what you have always wanted!

(3) I Went To The Supermarket      A classic cumulative memory game
     purpose:   Listening, Mime and Movement

Sit in a circle. The first person says “I went to the supermarket and I bought…” and they name an object beginning with ‘A’, for example ‘apple’. In this version they should also add a movement to go with the word, e.g. biting the apple.
The person next to them says “I went to the supermarket and I bought an apple and…” They should choose an object beginning with ‘B’ and a movement to go with it. The game continues around the class with each person adding an object and movement and trying to remember all the preceding objects and movements. Making the movements may help students to remember all the objects, Can they get to ‘Z’?!
(4) Where Do You Stand?  A fast and effective way of discovering everybody’s opinions about a subject.
purpose:  Decision Making, Speaking and Listening, Team Building

Do you agree or disagree? A statement will be read.  Students will show a thumb up (agree), thumb down (disagree) or thumb horizontal (not sure). Then ask individual students to explain why they made their choice.

a) Homework should be banned.
b) Year-round education is better for students.
c) All people should be vegetarians.
d) All students should be required to take a cooking class.
e) Grades should be abolished.

(5) Count to 20     Ideal for providing focus for the whole group
     purpose:  Co-operation, Group Dynamics

This is one of the simplest, yet most challenging drama games. Sit or stand in a circle. The idea is for the group to count to twenty, one person saying one number at a time. Anybody can start the count. Then a different person says the next number – but if two or more people happen to speak at the same time, counting must start again from the beginning. It is possible to get to twenty if everybody really concentrates – but try and be relaxed as well.

(6) Greetings
purpose:  Encourages players to interact, make choices and explore characters.

• Greet someone you don’t really trust.
• Greet someone like they are a long lost friend.
• Greet someone who has really bad breathe.
• Greet someone like you have a crush on them.
• Greet each other with a random, made-up language (gibberish). The person
receiving the greeting should respond in the same fashion.
• Greet someone like you are a cowboy.
• Greet someone like you are a soldier.
• Greet someone like you are a business person very late to a meeting.
• Greet someone like an elderly person who desperately wants someone to talk to.

How to virtually place yourself in front of any landmark with free image editing tools.

Remove.bg is a free tool that will automatically remove the background from selfie-style pictures. Pixabay and Unsplash are good places to find free pictures of world landmarks. Google Slides is an easy-to-use tool for layering two pictures together to create a new one. Combine all three of those tools and you can virtually place yourself in front of any world landmark.
